Kansas City Chiefs: 10 likes and 10 dislikes from Week 14 vs New England

Dislikes, 6-10
6. The Offense’s Second Half
Oh, wow, was it bad. The Chiefs’ offensive series in the second half went a little something like this:
Field goal, blocked punt, fumble, punt, punt, end of the game.
7. Trickery, Part III
Seemed like the only way the Patriots offense could get something going was with the use of tricks. Is that good? Because it always seemed to beat the Chiefs. Like here:

8. Kelce’s Fumble
Travis Kelce is a lot of things, but he’s not a burner. He tried to burn the Patriots horizontally, for some reason, when he already had a first down in the second half. Now, the Patriots made an excellent play to jar the ball loose from No. 87, but had he just gone up the field, like he does 99 times out of 100, he wouldn’t have fumbled.
Thankfully, the play was called dead before New England scored a touchdown.
9. The Blocked Punt
Much like when I cheered loudly when the Chiefs blocked a field goal, I cursed very loudly when the Patriots broke through and blocked Dustin Colquitt‘s punt in the third quarter. At that moment, it seemed like the Patriots would storm back and win. And while they scored quickly thereafter (see Dislike No. 7), the blocked punt wasn’t the big momentum changer it looked like at the time.
10. Trickery, Part IV
Maybe the bag of tricks into which New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had to rummage says more about the state of the Patriots offense than anything.
Still: New England went a perfect three-for-three when it came to trick plays against the Chiefs, the third and final one being this 35-yard pass completion from running back James White to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to open the Patriots final drive of the game.
But, hey: the Kansas City Chiefs still won. On the road. Snapping the Patriots’ 21-game home winning streak.
They’re onto Cincinnati once more and the Kansas City Chiefs are AFC West champs!
