The last month of regular season football is here and the KC Chiefs are trending in a positive direction as they head towards the playoffs.

All eyes are on the current roster with the hope that it could take the Kansas City Chiefs all the way to the big game. Even so, let’s take an early look at what changes could await the Chiefs’ roster this offseason.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has continued to make roster moves deep into the 2019 season. It’s not uncommon to see moves being made, whether it’s on the active roster or adjustments to the practice squad.

This is a good sign, as it shows that the Chiefs brass continues to look for ways to improve the team. It shouldn’t be a surprise then that Veach and company are already looking down the road at what’s ahead.

The Chiefs have a fairly lengthy list of free agents that could hit the open market in 2020. Some of these players will be looking for other teams at season’s end and some will hopefully be retained.

Chris Jones is a perfect example of a player that should be retained, which will certainly come at a premium. Others could be replaced much easier, though, like tight end Deon Yelder or safety Jordan Lucas.

So, three questions arise – who stays, who goes, and who potentially comes in?

For this early look at the 2020 free agent forecast, let’s take a look at some Chiefs’ offensive free agents, whether they could or should stay, and who might be an upgrade to their spot on the roster.
