WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE RAIDERS?

Well, as expected, once the Oakland Raiders bought into the hype, they started to play poorly and that showed big time in their 40-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders were never in this game, not even from the first whistle, as their first offensive possession ended with an interception.

Derek Carr continued to struggle against his arch nemesis, falling to 2-10 versus the Chiefs and 0-6 at Arrowhead Stadium. He finished the day with 222 yards through the air, one touchdown, and two picks, but a lot of the yardage plus the touchdown came in garbage time when the game was well out of reach.

Josh Jacobs did his part, rushing for 104 yards off of 17 carries and being one of the few bright spots for Oakland on Sunday. Why the Raiders didn’t just continually hand the ball off to Jacobs, I’ll never know.

Tight end Darren Waller also had a nice game, catching seven balls for 100 yards and the team’s only touchdown. He’s been a nice story this year and clearly is one of Carr’s favorite targets.

Penalties and turnovers were the big story here, as Oakland had nine flags thrown their way and also had three costly turnovers. Carr’s two interceptions were brutal, especially the second one that was taken the other way for six. Oakland’s special teams also had a bad fumble on their second possession.

The Raiders went from being a contender in the AFC West to now having to fight to even make the playoffs. They’re 6-6 and host the Titans next week in the late window, and the Raiders should be glad they have that game in the Black Hole because they’re now 1-5 away from home.

Just lose, baby!
