WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE BRONCOS?

Denver isn’t a good team and almost let a decent lead slip away, something they’ve been prone to do this year. The Broncos finally got to be on the right side of a last second field goal though, as Brandon McManus booted through the game winner as time expired, winning it 23-20 over the Chargers.

Second round pick Drew Lock made his first career start and looked good early on, but as the game went along, the Chargers started to slow him down a bit. Still – Lock played decently for it being his first game, going 18 of 28 for 134 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while not getting sacked once.

Lock and Courtland Sutton were best friends in this game, with Sutton grabbing both of Lock’s touchdown passes and the first one being an absolute gem of a throw and catch. Sutton finished the day with four receptions for 74 yards and two scores.

Derek Wolfe was the big winner on defense, collecting two sacks on Philip Rivers while Will Parks had the other sack. Josey Jewel had a fumble recovery that continued to give Denver momentum.

The Broncos, who move to 4-8 on the season, were finally on the right side of a last second field goal and that had to feel good, but they’ve got a tough task next weekend, as they’ll travel to Houston for a date with the Texans in the early window of games.
