PAT FREIERMUTH – PENN STATE

Pat Freiermuth, a draft eligible sophomore, is an intriguing name to follow if he declares and could be selected early in draft. If there is a name that will come out of nowhere to become a hot commodity in the draft lead evaluation process, Penn State’s Frieremuth leads the bill.

A true sophomore who is eligible for the draft because he spent a year at prep school after high school, this tight end certainly looks the part and appears to have the tools be the part as well.

Almost the exact same size as Travis Kelce coming in to the draft process, Freiermuth appears capable of putting on more weight, and certainly must develop strength to handle the position at the NFL level. Experience is a concern, coming from a run first offense with questionable quarterback play, especially as a freshman.

However, as far as two way tight ends with potential, Freiermuth may certainly be the top tight end in the draft. Fluid as a receiver with strong hands and an ability to get up the field, for the tight end position, this Penn State product certainly fits the bill.

In a draft that appears thin at the top, especially compared to last year’s draft that saw multiple tight ends come off the board in the first round, he could find himself coming off the board in the first couple rounds.
