MVP Candidates

Number 2- Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson has been sensational this year, leading the league for quarterbacks in numerous categories, including quarterback rating. He is coming off a bye, which hurt him enough to move him out of the top spot.

But, because he’s been other-worldly this year, he’s still very much in the running to win the award. The NFL is very much a “what have you done for me lately” league and number one has done more for us lately.

The Case For:

He’s never won it.

As stated last week, everyone calls him underrated and that might get him the win this year if he keeps up his play. He could lead his team to a one-seed in the NFC and that would be enormous for his MVP resumé.

The Seahawks are contenders because of him and him alone. The 49ers win is still one of the best wins on any guy’s resumé on this list and he has a chance at a few more moments to set his MVP season in stone.

The Case Against:

This week could be the start of the Seahawks downhill run to end the season. I am not sure they can keep winning games by one score and the Eagles are coming off a tough loss to New England and they need a win badly to stay with the Cowboys.

They also still have the Vikings and Rams in primetime games and the 49ers one more time at the end of the year. If he wins two of those games and the Seahawks take the one seed in the NFC, Wilson should win it. That is going to be very tough, however.

MVP Moment:

Week 5 vs. Rams - 17/23, 268 yards passing, 4 passing touchdowns, 8 carries for 32 yards, win.

“Did he just do that?” Play:

Typical Wilson scramble drill 13-yard pass to Tyler Lockett in the back of the endzone.
