The KC Chiefs have the reigning MVP on their team. Who are the top options right now to win the award for the 2019 season?

More than halfway through the 2019 season, the NFL is still its unpredictable self, as Jimmy Garoppolo has led a team to a one loss record and the Melvin Gordon holdout proved to really dismantle the Chargers. The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t quite lived up the hype so far and a large part of that was due to an injury to Patrick Mahomes, who might be out of the MVP conversation now unfortunately.

Of course, the one remaining bit of consistency is the Belichick, Brady combo and no one wants to acknowledge that. Consistency is boring, which is why we love the NFL and it’s week-to-week chaos.

The same can be said for this MVP race, which consists of many familiar faces with a mixture of breakouts thus far. To put it bluntly, it’s completely up in the air through ten weeks, which makes it hard to cut the candidates down to a top five.

There are a ton of football to be played and therefore a lot of time left for big players to have their MVP moment.

With all that being said, let’s overreact to the first ten weeks of the year. Here are the top candidates with just seven weeks left.
