Start of the Week: Odell Beckham, WR, Cleveland Browns

Normally, this is a no brainer. OBJ has been a staple in every fantasy lineup every single time he has been active. 2019 hasn’t been kind to the star receiver, however, and he is no longer a must start in the fantasy world.

He has only scored over 15 points in two games this year. He also has two games with five points or less. That is good (or bad) enough to be the WR26 on the year, which is good for flex consideration.

The problem is OBJ hasn’t been finding the endzone. He has just one touchdown on the year. His target share is still really healthy, however. He sees right around nine targets per game.

Basically, all of Bechkam’s points have come from receptions or yards after the catch. If you sprinkle in a few more touchdowns this season to some of his performances, he would be closer to a top 12 receiver. Touchdowns in the NFL are fickle.

That is a good sign for Odell fantasy owners, though. A drought is usually followed by an explosion in the world of fantasy. Look no further than Julio Jones for evidence of this.

Julio infamously started last year with seven straight games without a score. In his next nine games, however, he hauled in eight scores and exploded as a league winner for most people in the playoffs. This year, Jones stated fast with four touchdowns in the first three games. He hasn’t scored since.

Beckham is due for that sort of touchdown swing and that starts this week. Pittsburgh is middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to WR’s, ranked right at 16. OBJ is going to have a big week this week, so just stick with him.
