Kansas City Chiefs fans are some of the best in the entire world. Cameron Black has put that on full display and is now a nominee for FanSider of the Year!

Kansas City Chiefs fans love their team, their tailgating, and their barbecue. Every Sunday is dedicated to watching football and Cameron Black is one of the best out there, earning a nominee for FanSider of the Year.

Black has never actually gotten to watch the Chiefs, as he was born completely blind. He grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, so he was familiar with the sport, but didn’t get into it fully until he and his wife moved to Kansas City for a job that provided employment to blind people.

Black got into the Chiefs because he knew Kansas City was a football town and he wanted to be able to bond with people over it. He listened to Mitch Holthus on the radio and slowly, but surely grew to love the organization. He’d ask his father about certain things if he didn’t fully understand rules or whatnot, but Black became a big time fan in no time.

Despite Black never actually having seen a football game, he got to attend his first game when NFL Films got a hold of his story and invited him to his first ever Chiefs game.

"“I will never forget that night, we did so much. I threw out the pass, I got to go up in the booth and sit with Mitch while he did the play by play,” Black said."

While football itself has been fun for Black, feeling like part of a team has been one of his favorite things about following the Kansas City Chiefs.

"“I think what I loved about football, I love knowing what’s going on, I love the players, I love the competition. But, it gave me a feeling that I have never had before of really truly feeling like I’m a part of something that is bigger than myself, that I am a member of this huge group of people that have one thing in common and it’s that they all root for this team and they all love this team,” Black said.~~~"

"“They all come from different backgrounds and they’re different types of people, but everybody in Kansas City loves the Chiefs. Everybody. Being blind, I had never felt that way before. I had never felt like I was part of a larger group of people, a larger community. Having that feeling was wonderful for me.”"

We can all attest to this feeling. Football can frustrate us sometimes, but at the end of the day, watching games can bring us a lifetime of memories. While the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t gotten that coveted Super Bowl in most of our lifetimes, we’ll all ride or die with this team until the very end.

Cameron Black is proof of how diehard Chiefs fans are and how much Chiefs Kingdom loves their football team. Be sure to stay tuned to see if Black wins our FanSider of the Year award!
