Sit of the Week – Darren Waller, Tight End

Las Vegas Raiders. Darren Waller. 83. player. 28. . Tight End

This one hurts, as I’m a Darren Waller fantasy owner myself. His game is attractive and his story is remarkable. This sit is not due to his lack of talent, but more in consequence to the lack of talent surrounding him.

The jury is out of Waller, as he is obviously the premier pass-catcher. Defenses have started keying in on him and Carr looked elsewhere last week, as he has reeled in just two catches in back-to-back weeks. He had eight targets two weeks ago, but he is still being guarded much tighter before his breakout.

This Chargers defense is re-invigorated and could try to take Waller out of the game, which is would be a great gameplan considering how electric Waller is. Though Derwin James is closer, it does not look like this week will be his return, which does help Waller out.

The Chargers have been pretty good against tight ends, especially in recent weeks as Tennessee Titans’ Jonnu Smith has had the most yards with 64 since week 3. With the narrative in play, the Chargers’ rejuvenated defense, and Waller scuffling of late, look elsewhere for production from the tight end spot.

A possibility of Los Angeles Rams’ Gerald Everett would be a good option if he is on your waiver wire coming off a bye.
