WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHIEFS?

It was no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs would be without Patrick Mahomes in their Sunday night match-up with Green Bay, but even with the reigning MVP on the sidelines and not dressed to play, the Chiefs held their own in this game. Their efforts weren’t quite enough, as they fell 31-24 to the Packers.

Matt Moore stepped up though, throwing for 267 yards and two touchdowns and was sacked twice. He did well in place of Mahomes, and Chiefs fans honestly couldn’t have asked for much more from Moore (no pun intended).

Mecole Hardman, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce all had big games, though Kelce did struggle with dropped balls a lot and that can’t happen especially with a backup quarterback in the game. Hardman showed he was worth the second round pick and showcased that blazing speed once again on his 30 yard touchdown run. That was a beaut!

The defense, while not quite as good as what they did to the Broncos, has shown they’re improving. They sacked Aaron Rodgers five times and until the fourth quarter, had kept the Packers run game in check. Aaron Jones did gash them through the air, however, totaling over 150 receiving yards.

Andy Reid shouldn’t have punted when the offense was at midfield, but fans shouldn’t continue to dwell on that. He did what he felt was the best decision for the team and other than that decision, he coached a good game on Sunday night, especially when you consider he had a backup quarterback in the game.

Even with the loss, Chiefs fans have to be feeling much better about their chances without Mahomes moving forward. They didn’t have six starters and still gave a very good Packers team everything they had.

Next up for Kansas City, another home game against an NFC North team, as the Minnesota Vikings come to town for a game in the early window.
