WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE RAIDERS?

In one of the better match-ups of the weekend, the Raiders, in their fifth* straight away game, traveled to Houston for a date with the Texans. Despite it being a closely contested game throughout, the Raiders fell by a score of 27-24, but make no mistake, they were in this one from the get go.

Were it not for an insane play by Deshaun Watson even after getting kicked in the face, the Raiders might have been able to pull off the upset on the road. But that play happened and the Raiders now head home 3-4 on the year, but finally get to play in the Black Hole again for the first time since September.

Derek Carr had his best game of the season, throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions and not getting sacked at all. The Raiders lost center Rodney Hudson to an injury, but the line continued to protect Carr.

Josh Jacobs was likely limited due to a shoulder injury that had been nagging him during the week, but he still rushed for 66 yards and added 15 receiving yards to his stats. Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow were the stars of the day, with Williams returning from injury and grabbing three balls for 91 yards and a touchdown while Renfrow went for four catches for 88 yards and his first NFL score.

Oakland’s offense is looking much better than it did a season ago and the defense played decently too, sacking Watson three times. It wasn’t a perfect game by the Raiders, but they put up a pretty good fight against a team many expected to blow the doors off of them.

The Raiders finally return to Oakland next week for a date with the Lions in the late window. That should be a competitive game!
