WHO IS THE QUARTERBACK THIS WEEK?

Adrian Martinez was hurt three weeks ago in the Northwestern game, which propelled Noah Vedral into the starting role against Minnesota. Vedral wasn’t great, but in his defense, the team surrounding him wasn’t exactly stellar either.

Martinez definitely gives the Huskers the best chance to win, but he hasn’t looked like himself this year. He had struggled in the last few games we had seen him in and if he’s not fully healthy, there’s no need to trot him out there, especially while the offensive line is still having issues.

Vedral could be the starter again this week, but I’m crossing my fingers for freshman Luke McCaffrey, who could be able to give this offense the spark it needs moving forward.

Hopefully Martinez is deemed healthy enough to play, but he’ll have to step it up from his last few performances if Nebraska wants a realistic chance of winning this game.

NEXT MAN UP AT RUNNING BACK

I won’t get into the situation with Maurice Washington, but he won’t be suiting up for the Cornhuskers on Saturday. That means Dedrick Mills and Wyatt Mazour will need to be pounding the rock for the Huskers and hopefully they’ll be able to get something going.

Mills and Washington were the one-two punch before, but now Mills will be asked to carry a lot more of the load. Mazour, however, can make his presence felt on Saturday, as the Hoosiers are a team that can be run on.

If the Huskers want to put up points in this game and keep Indiana off the field, running the ball should be priority number one. This will be even more important if Martinez is still out and Vedral or another quarterback is taking the snaps.
