KC Chiefs: What we learned about each team in AFC West after week 6
WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHARGERS?
The Los Angeles Chargers are proof to Chiefs fans that it could be worse so far into the season. Los Angeles’ only two victories have come against the Colts (which they only won because of Indy’s kicking woes) and the Dolphins (who are clearly tanking) and have already matched their loss total from a year ago.
It looked good for the Chargers to add a W to their record this past week, as they “hosted” the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. Pittsburgh rolled out to LA with their third string quarterback taking the snaps and ended up shocking the Bolts in primetime. At one point, it was 24-0 and the Steelers’ anthem played in the fourth quarter, angering Chargers players.
Simply put – It hasn’t been good for the Los Angeles Chargers six games into the season.
The run game hasn’t been good, which has put a lot more pressure on Philip Rivers. Speaking of pressure on Rivers, he was getting pummeled throughout that game, but somehow was only sacked once. He was hit six times however and finished the evening with 320 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks. A lot of the yardage was in garbage time, for what it’s worth.
The defense hasn’t lived up to the billing, allowing the Steelers to rush for over 130 yards and letting James Conner have a big day with a rushing and receiving touchdown. A third string quarterback was able to come into Los Angeles (which granted, was basically a Steeler home game) and leave with a victory.
The Chargers will look to right the ship next week when they travel to Nashville for a date with the Titans in the later window of games.
