It didn’t take long to see how detrimental injuries are to the success of the KC Chiefs. Even with players likely returning from injury in the coming weeks, filling the void before the trade deadline would make an immediate impact.

The Kansas City Chiefs went into their Sunday night match-up against the Colts already missing some key players. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill was injured during the season opener and left tackle Eric Fisher was injured in practice just before the game against Oakland. Even quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a little banged up after dealing with an ankle injury against the Lions.

Needless to say, those were all significant injuries even before the injuries that happened against the Colts. During that game, Mahomes re-aggravated the previous ankle injury, which made an immediate impact on the offense’s performance.

Later on in the game, defensive lineman Chris Jones exited with a groin injury, offensive lineman Andrew Wylie suffered an ankle sprain, wide receiver Sammy Watkins left with a hamstring injury, and linebacker Anthony Hitchens had a groin injury as well.

Unfortunately, the list doesn’t end there.

Defensive lineman Xavier Williams was placed on injured reserve after suffering a high ankle sprain. In light of these injuries, the Chiefs responded by signing two free-agent veterans, defensive tackle Terrell McClain and offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski. Even with these signings, the team could still use some help.

Thankfully, the season is far enough along to see which teams could be more open to trading to began preparing for their future. The KC Chiefs are a Super Bowl contender, so nabbing a player from a team looking for draft capital becomes a little bit more possible.

Let’s take a look at three options to upgrade and help Kansas City reach the Super Bowl.
