6. Accountability, No. 2

Some people probably won’t like this one, but I thought it was great that Mahomes, at times, hollered at his offensive line. He should have! The line did not play well at all Sunday night, which I’ll get to more later. The result was Mahomes taking a lot of shots, getting his ankle rolled a couple of times, and not having near enough time to do what he needs to do.

Obviously, the young quarterback was frustrated with his offensive line. With Eric Fisher out, the line was not 100%. Then Andrew Wylie went down. Mahomes getting on his line wasn’t about his disrespecting them, but more of him trying to light a fire underneath them so they could have a fighter’s chance the rest of the game.

7. The Overall Defensive Effort

Yes, the defense had its problems (see the next section), but overall the unit was able to keep the Colts to 19 points. Normally, that’s enough for this Chiefs team. It’s odd to state this, but the offense let down the defense.

8. The Sidearm to Kelce

Right after Kelce and Bieniemy’s squabble on the sideline, Mahomes uncorked a sizzling sidearm pass to the tight end on a 2nd-and-16 that gave the Chiefs a fresh set of downs inside the red zone. That sidearm pass never gets old.

9. Tanoh Kpassagnon

He had five total tackles, including two for loss and one quarterback hit. He keeps playing well in the chances that he gets.

10. Hardman’s Sideline Grab

Usually, I’m a big fan of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth, but they rather got on my nerves as they kept trying to downplay rookie wide receiver Mecole Hardman‘s sideline grab for 31 yards. That was a heck of a play, and I’m still not sure that Hardman’s heel definitively went out. Both Hardman and Mahomes deserve more credit for hooking up on this big pass.
