The Kansas City Chiefs host the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night at AArowhead Stadium in front of a national audience.

Chiefs vs Colts: The Betting Lines

The Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) are the overwhelming consensus favorite against the incoming Indianapolis Colts (2-2) this Sunday. According to the Action Network, the Chiefs are favored by a whopping 11 points. The game also features an incredible over/under line of 56.

The Colts are in the middle of the pack in yards in allowed (17th, 363 per game) on defense, and yards (19, 347 per game) on offense. The Chiefs give up the third most yardage (408) on defense, but they produce the second-most yards (475) on offense.

Of course, this comes down to scoring, and the two teams combine to average 57.25 a game. The defenses haven’t helped themselves much either, combining to allow 49 points an outing. These two items help set that high over/under mark.

For the Chiefs to cover the big spread, they will need to do a better job stopping the run. They may be helped in this quest as the Colts’ top rusher, Marlon Mack, is listed as questionable as of Wednesday.

The Chiefs needed a spectacular defensive touchdown to beat the Lions last week, and Patrick Mahomes completed a season-low 57 percent of his passes, with no touchdowns. If he bounces back to his normal accurate self, and the defense can stifle the run, the Chiefs should come away with their fifth straight victory.

Chiefs vs Colts: The Weather

Sunday’s matchup on NBC will be the first night game of the season for the Chiefs. According to NFLweather.com on Friday, the teams can expect a mostly cloudy, cool night with temperatures ranging from 58 degrees for the 7:20 PM CT kickoff to approximately 56 degrees by game’s end.

It looks to be a fantastic night for football at Arrowhead Stadium, but the humidity will be high, maybe as high as 70 percent.

Key Kansas City Chiefs Injuries

According to this week’s NFL injury report, provided by ESPN, Tyreek Hill practiced on a limited basis Wednesday but will not play. Even with this progress, there is no need to rush Hill back into action/

Like Hill, LeSean McCoy practiced on a limited basis Wednesday but it looks as if he will play as he was removed from the injury list on Friday. Unfortunately, Sammy Watkins was added and is listed as questionable with hamstring and shoulder issues, and Damien Williams is still battling a knee issue.

Alex Okafor,  who was listed as questionable on Wednesday but will most likely play on Sunday.

Eric Fisher will not play.

Key Indianapolis Colts Injuries

On top of Mack not practicing due to an ankle injury wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is listed as questionable and Parris Campbell out with a concussion. Hilton didn’t practice on Wednesday, but it would be surprising if he didn’t suit up for this big game.

The Colts secondary could be thin with safeties Malik Hooker and Clayton Geathers ruled out Sunday. Safety Rolan Milligan and cornerback Rock Ya-Sin are both questionable as well.

The linebacker corp could be thin too.  Darius Leonard is out with a concussion and Antony Walker is questionable with a shoulder injury. Defensive end Tyquan Walker is ruled out as well because of an ankle injury.

Return of Justin Houston

The Chiefs will welcome back four-time Pro-Bowler and fan-favorite Justin Houston. For the first time, Houston will play in Arrowhead for an opposing team. The star pass rusher for the Chiefs from 2011 through 2018 has one sack this year, with 11 tackles, and a forced fumble.

Hopefully, Chiefs fans will give this warrior the warm welcome he deserves for his many years of outstanding effort in Kansas City.

As with most of the games the Chiefs play, look for an exciting, high scoring affair. The 11 point spread seems a bit scary, and the over/under is extremely high, so tread lightly.

Hopefully, Watkins will be able to play, and the Chiefs can win and Hill will have another week to recover. It will be nice to see Houston on the field again, but few in Arrowhead will hope he has a good game this time around.

It will be a cool, beautiful night in Kansas City, and the Chiefs should nail down win number five!
