JORGE SOLER

The most surprising player in 2019 was designated hitter (and sometimes outfielder) Jorge Soler, who now holds the record for most home runs hit by a Royal in a single season with 48. He also hit 117 RBI in what was easily the biggest power season by a Royal ever. He’s the American League home run leader for the 2019 season. Who’d have thought?

Soler proved he could stay healthy this year and when he can, we saw the end result. The team should must definitely try to lock him up to an extension, but that’s easier said than done.

CONCLUSION

The 2019 season was a rough one for Royals fans, but these players surprised us in a good way with their level of play. Jorge Soler was  the most surprising, as he hit a franchise-record 48 bombs and looked like the guy the Royals wanted him to be when they traded for him over two and a half years ago.

Next. Way too early 2020 lineup predictions. dark

It wasn’t always pretty this season, but at least some members of the Kansas City Royals stood out above the rest. Who were the most surprising players in your eyes this year?
