KC Royals: Several big changes will decide next direction for organization

Long-term Extensions
Jorge Soler (Free Agent 2022)
Jorge Soler has the ability to opt out of his current contract ($4,666,667) to enter arbitration (2-year – est. $8 million for 2020 and 3-year – est. $12 – 14 million for 2021).
Soler will be a free agent in 2022 and if the Royals front office believes in Soler’s breakout they should attempt this offseason to extend Soler thru 2023, with a team option for 2024 valued at $23 million. The 27-year-old Soler’s extension would have him signed through his age 32 season.
Extension offer – 4 years/$56 million (2020 – $8 million, 2021 – $12 million, 2022 – $18 million, 2023 – $18 million, team option for 2024 – $23 million)
Adalberto Mondesi (Free Agent 2024)
The Kansas City Royals have an opportunity to lock up Mondesi to a contract extension through 2026. The extension would purchase next year’s minimum salary, three years of arbitration, and three years of free agency.
If the Royals are lucky enough to Ozzie Albies contract structure as template that would be amazing, but Mondesi has shown enough to get a more expensive contract.
Extension offer – 7 years/$74 million (2020- $1 million, 2021 – $3 million, 2022- $6 million, 2023 – $10 million, 2024 – 2026 – $18 million per year)
