Kansas City Royals: Way too early 2020 lineup predictions
By Cody Rickman
Right Field
The Royals need to address right field this offseason. Currently the roster is built to be a rotation of Brett Phillips, Bubba Starling, Ryan McBroom, Hunter Dozier, and Whit Merrifield in right field depending on rest and pitching match-ups.
2020 offseason transactions: Clint Frazier (trade), the 25-year-old has put together a productive 2019 season slashing .265/.310/.489 with 12 home runs this season for the New York Yankees.
The Yankees have an impending roster crunch this off-season and may be willing to depart with Clint Frazier and several other pieces to make room on their 40-man roster. Frazier would bring significant power potential and league average defensively ability to the Royals. Frazier could be a cornerstone for the offense for the next 4 years.
- Future: Brewer Hicklen (ETA: 2021)
A two-sport collegiate athlete drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 draft out of UAB has already been a starting outfielder for two minor league championship teams (2018 Lexington Legends and 2019 Wilmington Blue Rocks). Hicklen is an exceptional athlete and has the potential to develop into a .260 average, +20 home runs and 30 stolen bases outfielder that brings consistent defense every night.
