Fantasy Football 2019: Thursday Night Football Start Em, Sit Em Week 4

Sit of the Week – Aaron Rodgers
This may seem odd for a couple of reasons. First off, it’s Aaron Rodgers and that in itself can seem weird to many. Another is that I just had his number one receiver as my start of the week. The Packers will take advantage of a beat up Philly team early and feature Adams.
However, game play has hurt Rodgers the first three weeks and he could fall under that again. If the Pack get up early and lean on Aaron Jones to eat some clock, the superstar could not reach his potential this week.
Rodgers is the 21st overall quarterback in fantasy through three weeks. It is possible Rodgers takes on a Tom Brady approach this year if the team that surrounds him is better than years prior. This means he could take a “game manager” role rather than a gun-slinger one.
The emergence of running back Aaron Jones is not a great sign for Rodgers’ fantasy owners either. Matt LaFluer loves to run the ball, leading Derrick Henry to a top-20 fantasy season for a running back last year. That will carry over to Jones this year after a very strong first three weeks with three touchdowns.
While this is more game play than anything, Rodgers’ yards per attempt are down almost a yard from last year and he is 35 years old. He is great, but you should look elsewhere this week in a year that is historically deep at quarterback. A streamer such as Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen against a Houston team who just gave up 318 yards and two touchdowns to Phillip Rivers in week three is a good option if you’re in a bit of bind.
