WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHIEFS?

Once again, we’ll save the best for last and that’s your Kansas City Chiefs, who are 3-0 on the year. The Chiefs finally played a worthy adversary in week three, as the Ravens came to a raucous Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs’ home opener.

Kansas City walked away victorious with a 33-28 final, but it was a nail biter throughout. The Chiefs were up by as many as 17 points after having scored 23 points in the second quarter, but the Ravens battled back. They wound up scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t quite top the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes was clutch as always, going 27 of 37 while throwing for 374 yards and three touchdowns and getting sacked once. He was hit eight times though, which is too much considering how important he is to this team.

The Chiefs run game came back to life after a down week in Oakland, as they tallied 140 yards on the ground with one rushing touchdown. Darrel Williams led the team in rushing yards with 62 off of nine carries.

No receiver went for over 100 yards this week, but rookie Mecole Hardman came close with 97. He only had two receptions, but one was for an 83-yard touchdown where Hardman showcased his speed.

The defense still needs to improve, but they had their moments in this one, sacking Lamar Jackson three times and not allowing him to throw for any touchdowns. Jackson did rush for a touchdown, however, and the Ravens run game gashed the Chiefs to the tune of 203 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those touchdowns and 103 of those yards came from Mark Ingram alone.

Emmanuel Ogbah was the star on defense, notching 1.5 sacks and continuing to be a shining star on that side of the ball. Frank Clark also recorded his first sack as a Chief, so that was a positive for sure.

The Chiefs hit the road for the third time in four weeks, heading to Detroit for a game against the Detroit Lions of the NFC North. The Lions had a sneaky win against the Eagles in Philly last week and beat the Chargers two weeks ago, so they’re no slouch.
