A Complete Game

Will this be the week that the Missouri Tigers offense finally plays a complete game?

In Week One against Wyoming, the Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 lead early before getting dismantled in the middle quarters, 34-3. A frantic comeback in the fourth quarter fell short as Mizzou lost in Laramie by the final score of 37-31.

The following week, the Tigers walloped the Mountaineers 38-7 with 31 of those points coming from the offense. Maybe I’m reading too much into things, but it worries me that the offense only scored in the first half of that game. And it’s not like the scrubs came in to start the second half. That wasn’t the case at all.

Missouri’s five plays in the second half against West Virginia went: punt, missed field goal, punt, punt, punt. They went three-and-out only once, but also never had an offensive drive longer than 30 yards.

And last week, while the Tigers de-feathered the Red Hawks, shutting them out, the offense still had trouble in the middle part of the game with the starters on the field. Back-to-back drives in the second quarter ended in a three-and-out and an interception. Against SEMO!

Against South Carolina, it’s going to be different. For the first time in a couple of weeks, both the first-team offense and defense are going to play the entire game. Hopefully the team worked out the kinks against the Red Hawks and feel confident hosting a team that’s coming off a loss to Alabama.
