Sit of the Week – Delanie Walker

Tennessee Titans. Delanie Walker. 1. player. 35. . Tight End

Delanie Walker is hard to gauge right now. He is an aging player who was  coming off of a serious injury entering the season. He then exploded for 22.5 fantasy points in week one. He followed that up with 7.9 points against the Colts in week two.

The kicker here, is that Walker got six targets in each of those games. That shows me that Walker, like many middle tier tight ends, is going to be touchdown dependent to be fantasy football relevant.

My biggest problem for Walker this week is the Titans don’t have any other proificl options in the passing game. The Jaguars used AJ Bouye against Travis Kelce in week one when the Chiefs and Jaguars faced off. Myles Jack is also a talented linebacker than can be used to cover the veteran tight end. Kelce may have had success against that defense. but Walker isn’t the caliber of player that Kelce is right now.

It is completely possible the Jaguars decide to take away Mariota’s safety blanket in Walker here. They could use a combination of Jalen Ramsey, Bouye, and Jack to stop him. Jacksonville can afford to do this because the Titans don’t have dangerous pass catchers behind Walker that can instill fear in a defense as talented as the Jaguars.

The sit advice here is obviously dependent on one factor, and that is if you have a better option available. If Walker is your only reliable option at tight end, you can’t sit him. That is completely possible considering just how shallow the tight end position is in fantasy.

If you do have another tight end option, seriously consider playing him over Walker before Thursday night rolls around.
