WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE RAIDERS?

For the second straight week, the Oakland Raiders played a division rival, but unlike last week, they recorded an L this time around. It looked promising for the Raiders early on against the Chiefs, as they were leading 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Unfortunately for the Raiders and their fans, football is a four quarter game and they failed to do much of anything after that first quarter. Their defense slept through the second quarter as the Chiefs offense did whatever they wanted to against them and the offense slept through the rest of the game after they were up 10-0.

Rookie Josh Jacobs had a good game, running the ball 12 times for 99 yards. Outside of Jacobs, however, the rest of the offense did not play all that well. A lot of that fell on Derek Carr‘s shoulders though, as he threw for under 200 yards, only one touchdown, and two interceptions while getting sacked three times. Not a good afternoon for Carr and his eyeliner.

The defense, aside from the second quarter where the Chiefs did all of their damage, wasn’t that bad honestly. They prevented the Chiefs from finding the end zone in the first, third, and fourth quarters while forcing a fumble and sacking Patrick Mahomes twice.

Benson Mayowa is looking like a bonafide star in the Black Hole, notching 1.5 sacks against the Chiefs and building on his numbers. He’s the shining star for the Raiders two weeks into the season.

The Raiders surprised people in week one and looked like they were about to surprise even more people in week two, but in the end, they continued to struggle against Kansas City and now the Chiefs hold the all-time win/loss record against Oakland in that trash stadium.

Oakland will have their work cut out for them against a good Vikings defense next week in Minnesota.
