After two weeks of action in the NFL, the KC Chiefs sit atop the AFC West at 2-0. How did the division teams look in their games this weekend?

Well, that was fast. The Kansas City Chiefs have already grabbed hold of the AFC West, but it’s still incredibly early in the season. Still, fans have to enjoy the fact that the Chiefs are undefeated two weeks in while their division rivals are either 1-1 or 0-2 (shoutout Denver!).

With the second week of the regular season in the books, let’s look back at the weekend that was for the AFC West. What did we learn about the four teams in the division? Let’s start with the first game of the weekend.

WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHARGERS?

After lucking out when the Colts kicker missed three field goals in week one and barely squeaking by with a victory in overtime, the Chargers were the recipients of kicking woes on Sunday against the Lions.

The missed field goals that helped Los Angeles the week prior came back to bite them in week two, as Ty Long missed two field goals on the day. Not only that, but Austin Ekeler lost a fumble and Philip Rivers didn’t throw for a touchdown. He was picked off once and also sacked once.

The Chargers defense did their part (mostly), holding Detroit to 13 points and picking off Matthew Stafford twice. One of those interceptions was a boneheaded play on Kenny Golladay‘s end, as he ended up batting the ball into Casey Hayward‘s arms in the end zone.

After getting decimated against the Colts rushing attack last week, LA held the Lions to under 100 yards rushing, which was a HUGE improvement to the over 200 yards they allowed to Marlon Mack and the Colts the week prior.

The Bolts also failed to sack Stafford in this game, which is pretty noteworthy too, given the talent they have at pass rush. They’ll need to up the ante in the pass rush if they want to get back on track.

This was a sloppy game for the Chargers and showed that they still have a ways to go before they can dethrone the Chiefs in the division. The Chargers will hope to rebound against the Texans next week in a late afternoon game.
