The Kansas City Chiefs travel to the Black Hole for one final showdown with the Oakland Raiders in that stadium. While the Chiefs are favored, don’t be surprised if the Raiders put up a decent fight. How could they pull off the upset?

Even with a dominant outing by the Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense in week one against what was supposed to be a good Jaguars defense, their defense didn’t look very good. That is the main reason the Oakland Raiders could squeak by with a victory in this game. I’m not saying that’s what I think will happen, but anything is possible in sports.

Along with the defense (which we’ll dive more into in a bit), what are the main reasons the Raiders could stick around longer than we’d prefer in this week two match-up? For some help in that department, I reached out to Justin Fried of Golden Gate Sports for his insight on this weekend’s match-up.

Let’s take a look at the main reasons why Oakland could give the KC Chiefs a run for their money.

Sketchy Secondary Could Be Vulnerable Against Carr

We all witnessed the poor play by the secondary firsthand in week one. Until Morris Claiborne returns from suspension, and even that might not be enough, the Chiefs secondary is bleak to say the least and Derek Carr should be able to have a big game against them.

Last week alone the Chiefs surrendered 347 yards through the air with 275 of those coming from a rookie backup quarterback who was making his NFL debut. Not ideal for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

While I’ve never been particularly high on Derek Carr, he’s had some good games against the Chiefs in the Black Hole in the past. With this being the final outing in the Black Hole for the Chiefs, expect Carr to put up some big numbers. He looked pretty good against Denver on Monday night, throwing for 259 yards and a touchdown while only having four incompletions and not getting sacked once.

Here’s what Fried had to say about Carr and how fans feel about him this year,

“Raiders fans appear to be split on Derek Carr, but most do seem to be believers in him. He’s been saddled with a poor offensive line and lackluster supporting cast over the past couple of years ever since his brilliant 2016 campaign. However, the excuses could begin to run thin if he has another subpar year this season. But if Week 1 is any indicator, we could finally be seeing the return to prominence of a player who not too long ago was one of the brightest young quarterbacks in the NFL.”
