The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off the 2019 season with a hot start and will look to continue this great start week two in Oakland against the Raiders. Let’s take a look at how Madden sees this game going.

Chiefs Kingdom has very high hopes for this season hopefully including a Super Bowl appearance for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans would love to see a home playoff game or two as well. Making the playoffs and hopefully getting to watch playoff games in Arrowhead starts with winning the division.

The Raiders may not have as high of expectations as the Chiefs this season, but they looked better than many expected in week one and already have a divisional win under their belt this season. So this is a big game for the Chiefs no matter how much fans want to overlook it.

Before getting into Madden’s simulation for week two, let’s review how Madden’s predictions from last week fared against the actually game results. In short, they were wrong.

Madden along with many other sports analysts predicted the Jaguars to upset the Chiefs, but the Chiefs took care of business with a 40-26 win over the Jaguars. This was a much better result than the 26-21 loss that happened in the Madden simulation. Oddly enough they did get the Jaguars point total correctly, but that was about all that they got correct during the simulation.

For starters, Patrick Mahomes had more yards by half time than Madden predicted for his game total. Mahomes actually racked up 211 yards passing in the first quarter, which almost matched the total Madden predicted for the entire game. These 211 yards are actually an NFL record for first-quarter yards by a quarterback since Peyton Manning in 2004.

Also, Madden predicted a pretty mediocre game for Sammy Watkins, but honestly who could’ve predicted that he would have 198 yards and three touchdowns? I’m not gonna hold that one against Madden. The simulation predicted a pretty quiet game for Tyreek Hill and, thanks to an injury, were correct there.

Madden also thought LeSean McCoy would be the bell cow back week one and have a very inefficient game, however, the exact opposite happened in this case. McCoy was part of a running back committee and had a very efficient game. Madden also predicted that the Chiefs would light up the Jaguars offense with sacks, but unfortunately, they were wrong about that as well with only Emmanuel Ogbah grabbing a sack Sunday.

For the Jaguars, Nick Foles got injured so Madden didn’t really stand a chance there. Also, a huge game was predicted for Dede Westbrook of over 150 yards and two touchdowns, but he was held to just 30 yards and one touchdown. In fact, former Chief Chris Conley actually had a better game than Westbrook with 97 yards and a touchdown while Madden had him being shut out.

But enough about last week, we aren’t even going to get into what the simulated Super Bowl Champion Cleveland Browns looked like last week. So what does the Madden Simulation have to say about this week’s matchup against the Oakland Raiders?
