Minkah Fitzpatrick is perfect fit for Kansas City Chiefs

This just feels like a Veach type move, doesn’t it? Minkah Fitzpatrick is a versatile, high round draft pick that is now available via trade. Veach has made it a point of emphasis to grab these type of players either through trade or free agency.
Veach has signed or traded for the following players in his tenure as general manager; Darron Lee, Reggie Raggland, Kendall Fuller, Tyrann Mathieu, Cam Erving, Frank Clark, Emmanuel Ogbah, Sammy Watkins. None of those players were drafted later than the third round in their respective drafts.
In just the trade category, Veach has brought in Ogbah, Raggland, Lee and Erving with the trades all having one thing in common; he gave up late round capital for former high round picks that were under performing. Fitzpatrick is by no means playing poorly, but he is a former first round pick in a bad situation. Expect Brett Veach to strike early on this to try to keep him from slipping to other contenders.
Another way Fitzpatrick fits is just how cheap his contract is.
That is absolutely astounding numbers. Not only would the Chiefs be grabbing one of the games brighter young players, they wold be doing it at a bargain bin rate.
Trading for Fitzpatrick would cost virtually nothing on the salary cap end. That is huge with Mahomes and Jones extensions looming. It is an even bigger potential trade considering the Chiefs cornerback options going forward. According to Spotrac, the Chiefs only have two corners under contract for 2020; Charvarius Ward and Rashad Fenton.
This makes trading for Fitzpatrick a no-brainer. He fits the timeline of a young team with an MVP quarterback at the helm. Aging corners like Patrick Peterson or Xavier Rhodes undoubtedly wouldn’t be in the teams long-term plans. Fitzpatrick can be, and at a cheaper cost.
The biggest problem here is he will cost more than money. That meaning the draft capital to acquire him. In my opinion, that price tag is a bargain as well.
