FANTASY FOOTBALL DEEP SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2019

8. Justin Jackson, RB Los Angeles Chargers

The Melvin Gordon controversy is well-known by now and the question of if he will play for the Chargers this season still looms at large. Gordon wants to get paid and it doesn’t look like the Chargers plan to do that so Gordon is currently holding out for a new contract or a trade.

If a trade or a Le’Veon Bell-type hold out happens Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson immediately takes a huge jump in fantasy value. Most people as of now seem to think that Ekeler would be the primary beneficiary of Gordon’s absence, but they may be very incorrect.

Unlike Jackson, Ekeler will probably hold some value regardless of what happens with Gordon due to his pass-catching abilities. But these pass-catching abilities might be good enough that the Chargers would want to keep him in a third-down back type of role and let Jackson handle the early-down duties. This would give Jackson a lot of fantasy value.

You could take Ekeler at his ADP of 76.7 or you could wait until your last pick in the draft and get Jackson at his ADP of 170.7. Jackson comes at a much cheaper price and could end up with equal or maybe even greater value than Ekeler which makes him a huge sleeper this year.
