CODY THOMPSON

Listed as 6’2″ and 205 pounds on the current Chiefs roster, Cody Thompson has been a very under the radar guy in the Chiefs wide receiver position battle. As a rookie coming out of Toledo, Thompson has put himself in a great position to get onto this crowded Chiefs roster

While getting most of his in game reps with second string players, Thompson is still making plays and standing out among his teammates. This preseason Thompson is among the tops on this team in numbers. He has nine receptions for 88 yards and has been targeted 11 times in two games and has contributed on special teams as well recording just one tackle.

Thompson is showing his versatility in many ways whether it be catching the ball, blocking for others, or making a tackle on special teams. Where he may lack in sheer speed, he makes up with precise routes and cuts that allow him to get open. If the ball hits his hands, he will more likely than not be coming down with it.

The bottom of this wide receiver position has been one to watch closely. With a key player in Marcus Kemp falling to an unfortunate ACL injury and former Chief De’Anthony Thomas returning, it makes things interesting on who will get the last spot.

Cody Thompson should be the name you see rising and making a strong push to crack the week one depth chart.
