FANTASY FOOTBALL WIDE RECEIVERS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 16 – SAMMY WATKINS

2018 Standard Scoring: 62nd (75.1)

2018 PPR Scoring: 63rd (115.1)

In a historically good offense, one that amassed 5,000+ yards and 50 touchdowns through the air, there is plenty of room for three or more great fantasy options. With a guy as talented as Sammy Watkins playing in that type of offense, he easily should be one of the best second-option wide receivers in the league.

Watkins can likely be grabbed in the sixth round and could be taken there as a WR3. This is tremendous value for Watkins, who could be in for a career year.

Let’s not forget the talent that Watkins possesses and the offense that he is playing in and on top of that Watkins himself said: “I will be the best this year mark my word I want it more now than I ever did before.” This should be exciting for potential fantasy owners.

Target competition is often a concern for fantasy players, but in an offense this good, that shouldn’t be a huge concern.

Health, on the other hand, could still be a concern. Watkins has been notorious for being injury-prone, but according to Peter Schrager, he is in the best shape of his life coming into this season, so maybe he will skate through the season injury-free.

If Watkins can put together a fully healthy season it could amount to a huge fantasy year for him. He officially missed six games last season but he had two more games in which he started, but missed most pretty much the whole game. So in basically half of a season last year, he put up 519 yards and three touchdowns.

If Watkins is able to play a full 16-game season, it’s pretty reasonable to believe that he can at least double these numbers. If this is the case, Watkins could have a huge jump in fantasy production this year and if you can grab him as your WR3 in the sixth round, he could be a great value for your fantasy team.
