FANTASY FOOTBALL WIDE RECEIVERS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 20 – A.J. GREEN

2018 Standard Scoring: 37th (103.4)

2018 PPR Scoring: 44th (149.4)

There were easier, safer players that could’ve been picked here such as Tyler Lockett, Kenny Golladay, etc, but here is why A.J. Green could pay off this year.

Green is going to a risky pick as he has multiple risk factors going into the season. He’s coming off of a toe injury that required surgery and now he has torn ligaments in his ankle that will keep him out for the first few games of the season.

Both of these could become lingering issues. On top of the injuries, he is 31 years old, is catching passes from a seemingly declining Andy Dalton, and has a legit threat to cut into his targets this season in Tyler Boyd.

With all that being said, if this is where Green is being valued at by other fantasy owners and you can grab him in the fifth round or sixth round or even later, that could be an absolute steal.

Green definitely still boasts wide receiver one upside and getting him as your wide receiver three or four could win you your fantasy league. You’ll have to be able to survive the first few weeks without him, but if you can you could be getting a great option for the stretch run.

One last thing to consider is that for the most part, it is better to have a WR2 or WR3 who plays all 16 games than a WR1 who misses games here and there. So if you’re a play it safe type of fantasy owner this pick might not be for you, but this could also be a league winning pick if you get a healthy A.J Green down the stretch with a mid-draft flyer pick.

If you do draft Green, have a couple back up options just in case, but the talent could outweigh the risk in this case and this could be one of the bargains of the draft.
