FANTASY FOOTBALL WIDE RECEIVERS TO TARGET IN 2019
NUMBER 12 – KEENAN ALLEN
2018 Standard Scoring: 14th (163.1)
2018 PPR Scoring: 12th (260.1)
Keenan Allen has loads of talent and no one is disputing that, but he is often considered a risky fantasy pick due to injury concerns. He has been hit by the injury bug pretty hard in the past, but he has nearly completely shed his “injury-prone” label after back to back 16-game seasons.
Injury is still something you should have in the back of your mind when drafting him, but 2015 and 2016 are looking more and more like fluke injury seasons.
The biggest current concern for Allen should be his target competition, not his injury risk. Mike Williams seems primed for a breakout season after he put up 664 yards and ten touchdowns last year in his second season in the league. Williams has turned into an end-zone target and that takes away from Allen’s opportunities to score.
Hunter Henry will also be back this season after missing all of last season due to an ACL injury. If he can return to full health, this could further cut into Allen’s receptions, especially in the red zone. Henry put up eight touchdowns as a rookie and if he can get close to that number again, end zone targets for Allen could be few and far between.
The guy is talented though and should easily put up top 15 wide receiver numbers if healthy. Allen should be able to be grabbed in the third round and should have good value there.
