Six Trades for the Kansas City Chiefs to Explore
Jalen Ramsey (Jacksonville Jaguars), Cornerback (Long Shot Trade)
Wouldn’t this be a treat for the Chiefs Kingdom!
Jalen Ramsey goes without saying and is a top corner in the NFL. This would be a dream scenario for Brett Veach and the Chiefs. The crazy part about it, it doesn’t seem like an impossible feat to pull off.
Ramsey is in the final year of his rookie contract, which in terms would make him expendable to a Jacksonville team who is still searching for yearly man to lead their team. Yes, they have Nick Foles, but how long until that crumbles for them, they wind up going .500, and drafting just outside top ten?
Jacksonville has a hole at a position where the Chiefs have an abundance of depth, and that’s at the wide receiver spot. This is where things could get dicey and the offer for Ramsey may be way more than the Chiefs can afford or willing to give up but it isn’t out of the question.
An offer the Chiefs could throw at the Jaguars could be something like this:
Jacksonville Receives:
- Sammy Watkins
- 1st or 2nd Round Draft Pick (2020)
- 1st or 2nd Round Draft Pick (2021)
Chiefs Receive:
- Jalen Ramsey
- Mid to Late Pick (2020 or 2021)
With Ramsey in the final year of his contract and Jacksonville still not to the level of where they want to be, it could be a win-win scenario for them to ship out Ramsey to Kansas City. Knowing that the Chiefs have other guys on the current roster to pay (Chris Jones, Tyreek Hill, Kendall Fuller, Patrick Mahomes) they can feel safe knowing Ramsey is going to be more of a rental.
Yes, the Chiefs could franchise tag him, but they have other players to spend it on. This is a very big gamble on one player, but Jacksonville could potentially walk away with a top tier player, multiple draft picks in the coming years, and still have the potential to re-sign Ramsey after the 2019 season.
