FANTASY FOOTBALL RUNNING BACKS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 3 – ALVIN KAMARA

Last season, Alvin Kamara only broke the 100-yard rushing mark one time, in an early season match-up against the New York Giants. Despite that, he had a total of eight games where he had over 100 receiving-plus-rushing yards, and two more games where he had at least 98 receiving-plus-receiving yards. His 18 total touchdowns ranked second behind only Gurley’s 21.

Similarly to Christian McCaffrey, Kamara’s rushing load increased from his rookie season to last year as he rushed the ball 74 more times for an additional 155 yards and six more touchdowns in 2018 than in 2017. Unlike McCaffrey, though, Kamara’s receiving numbers dropped. While had the same amount of receptions (81), he had 117 fewer receiving yards and one fewer receiving touchdowns.

Still, he’s a lithe, young, versatile running back of extreme importance in one of the NFL’s top offenses. Entering just his third season, Kamara has plenty of tread left on his tires. And now with Mark Ingram out of the picture and in Baltimore, Kamara should get even more of the load with the Saints.

I expect him to take full advantage of the situation. He’s a Top Three fantasy running back, and quite frankly, a Top Three overall fantasy player. Pick him early.
