FANTASY FOOTBALL QUARTERBACKS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 15 – PHILIP RIVERS

At first glance, Philip Rivers being this low on my rankings might surprise some people. He has explosive weapons such as Keenan Allen, Melvin Gordon, Hunter Henry, and Mike Williams to get the ball to, so why is he kicking off the list at number 15?

The answer is pretty simple.

Rivers doesn’t run with the football.

The last time the Chargers quarterback scored a rushing touchdown was in 2011. He’s never been a runner, so this isn’t exactly stunning news, but when it comes to which quarterbacks to draft in fantasy football, the guys who carry the ball tend to stack up the points more than the pocket passers.

If you draft Rivers, you’re still getting a great QB1, as he’s never missed a start in 14 years and is consistent. He does tend to have a bad game every now and then where he throws multiple interceptions, but most quarterbacks are prone to those bad games. That’s no reason to write him off.
