MATT RYAN – MVP IN 2016

Matt Ryan had a season for the ages in 2016, throwing for just shy of 5,000 yards (4,944) with 38 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. The Falcons went 11-5 and made it to the Super Bowl that year.

Of course, we all know how that ended for the Dirty Birds from Georgia. They’d get out to a 28-3 lead, only to choke it away to the Patriots and allow New England to win yet another Super Bowl title. Thanks a lot, Atlanta.

Ryan was more than deserving of his first (and to this point, only) MVP title. His follow-up season, while not as disappointing as Newton’s was the year prior, was still a drop-off. Ryan thew for 4,095 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, nearly doubling his pick total from the year before and throwing for 18 less touchdowns.

While the Falcons made the playoffs in the 2017 season with a 10-6 record (good for a Wild Card berth), they were out after losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles.
