PLAYERS TO WATCH IN PRESEASON WEEK 1

NUMBER 4 – MECOLE HARDMAN

Similar to Juan Thornhill, Mecole Hardman might not get to shine as much during the preseason simply because we know he’s going to make the team. That being said, he won’t be a surefire starter, so he’ll see more opportunities than Thornhill will.

Hardman was taken first by the Chiefs in the 2019 NFL Draft and with his speed and the drama surrounding Tyreek Hill at the time, it wasn’t hard to see why the Chiefs made this pick. With Hill back in the fold, however, Hardman’s role becomes a little tougher to predict.

It’d be nice to see Hardman get some time to gel with Patrick Mahomes, but at the same time, I don’t want to see Mahomes on the field much this week, or much at all during the preseason. Hill and Sammy Watkins will probably play the first couple of series and then it’ll be Mecole Hardman’s time to shine!

If nothing else, perhaps we’ll get to see Hardman field some returns on special teams on Saturday.
