The KC Chiefs take on the Cincinnati Bengals in week one of the 2019 preseason. Who are six players Chiefs fans should be watching in the first game of the preseason?

It might not be the regular season just yet, but FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY! More specifically, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS FOOTBALL IS BACK! Woooo!

While some people might not care all that much about preseason, there is a reason that preseason football exists. It gives the coaches a chance to see what everyone has to offer, the players a chance to prove themselves, and lets the fans see players they normally wouldn’t get to see.

Kansas City Chiefs fans are obviously excited to see Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce tear it up this year, but not during the preseason. No, during the preseason, fans are fine with not seeing the stars on the field. This is when the backups and third stringers are the ones we’re “clamoring” to see.

Who are the five Chiefs that fans should watch with anticipation on Saturday during their first preseason game against the Bengals? Let’s take a look.

PLAYERS TO WATCH IN PRESEASON WEEK 1

NUMBER 6 – CHASE LITTON

Third string quarterbacks are all the rage during the preseason and Chase Litton is no exception. The Marshall product is going into year two with the Chiefs, having spent last season on their practice squad.

Litton has a chance, albeit a small one, to surpass Chad Henne on the quarterback depth chart and be the backup throughout the 2019 season. It’ll take one hell of a preseason and one bad preseason from Henne to make that happen though.

Litton was fun to watch last preseason and even passed Matt McGloin on the depth chart to take that number three quarterback job in 2018. Can he continue to climb the depth chart in 2019?

Normally the first preseason game has the starters playing a series, maybe two, the backups playing until half time, and the third and fourth stringers doing their thing in the third and fourth quarters. If that’s the case for this game, we should expect to see Litton taking snaps in the third quarter. That’ll be his time to shine this week and he needs to make it count!
