FANTASY FOOTBALL SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 10: DANTE PETTIS

It is time to get to my favorite fantasy sleeper, and that is 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis. I contemplated putting him way higher on this list, but I don’t want the guys back in my league to get wind of my love for him and try to snipe him away from me (looking at you David and Quentin). Pettis has potential that is through the roof, so lets get into it and see exactly why I am so high on him.

Pettis started the last five games for the 49ers last year, and over that span he had 20 catches, 359 yards, and four touchdowns. By now, you probably know that I am in love with projecting averages over a 16 game season, so let’s take Pettis’ averages from those last five and see how they stack up:

64 receptions, 1,152 yards, and 13 touchdowns

Woahza. Now, I am not saying that is the production that Pettis is going to put up in 2019.

Five starts is such a small sample size, and it is hard to be consistently great in the NFL. A more fair prediction for Pettis would be around 52 catches, 870 yards and seven touchdowns. That is solid WR2/Flex potential, especially in deeper leagues.

Another reason to believe in Pettis is the return of starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the presence of offensive guru Kyle Shanahan as the head coach and play caller. That alone makes me value Pettis higher than his ADP of #86, or a tenth rounder in standard leagues.

Recommended Target Draft Range: Round 7-8
