FANTASY FOOTBALL SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2019

NUMBER 15 – CHRISTIAN KIRK

Let’s start the list with a name that most probably already know. Christian “Baby Beckham”  Kirk isn’t exactly a household name, but most casual fantasy fans probably contemplated starting Christian Kirk a few times in 2019.

Kirk had a solid if unspectacular rookie season, with 43 catches, 590 yards and three touchdowns. These numbers don’t exactly hop off the page, but there is a lot of context surrounding Kirk’s sleeper status.

First of all, Kirk put up those numbers in just 12 games. Over a full season, his averages would’ve put him at 57 catches, 787 yards, and four touchdowns. Those numbers are solid, but when you consider that Kirk only started in seven games, it becomes obvious his upside is there.

Those averages are solid for any number two receiver. Considering Kirk also played on arguably the worst offensive unit of 2018, his numbers were better than even I expected.

Receiver is also notoriously a difficult position for rookies to thrive in. Kirk had the deck stacked against him in 2018 and still come out relatively impressive.

Another thing to consider here is the Kingsbury/Murray factor.  A new offensive minded head coach paired with a number one overall quarterback should add a boost to any young player.

With Larry Fitzgerald not getting any younger, expect Kirk to be the de facto WR1 for the Cardinals. Kirk’s average ADP right now is #87, meaning in eight-team standard leagues, he is going in the back end of the tenth round. His value is way above that, and is a sleeper all players should target.

Recommended Draft range: I would start considering Kirk in late round seven and wouldn’t let him fall past round nine.
