FANTASY FOOTBALL SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2019
NUMBER 7 – ANTHONY MILLER
Anthony Miller is just oozing with potential. I was a big fan of his coming out of Memphis last year, and was even pounding the table to all of my friends and fellow fans that the Chiefs needed to take a long look at him in the draft.
Kansas City went Breeland Speaks at #46, and Miller went a few picks later to the Bears at #51 in the second round. Only time will tell who made the right decision there, but just because the Chiefs didn’t pick him up doesn’t mean my affection for him faded.
Miller didn’t have a monster rookie year by any stretch of the imagination. He only had 33 catches for 423 yards, Obviously those numbers do not pop off the page, but Miller did manage to haul in seven touchdowns. That is more than players like Larry Fitzgerald, Keenan Allen and T.Y. Hilton and the same amount as Juju Smith-Schuster. Miller has value as a red-zone target, and touchdown production can equal value in fantasy.
Miller isn’t very big, only standing at 5’11” and weighing 200 pounds. He does have a monster catch radius though. Watching film on him, and his concentration is almost unmatched and he can vacuum footballs to his hands at times to haul in receptions.
He also ran around a 4.46 at his pro day and showed off his vertical of 39 inches. Miller is a great athlete with a nose for the endzone, which can prove valuable if he slips down draft boards.
Miller should grow in year two organically as well. Receiver can be notoriously hard to learn from a position standpoint for rookies. Miller is no longer a first year player, and having been through a full NFL season should be an advantage for him as he starts his sophomore campaign.
He has had time to digest coach Matt Nagy’s playbook and develop chemistry with Mitchell Trubisky. His ADP right now is #157, which is extremely low for a player who caught seven touchdowns the year before. Miller also has the sixth easiest ranked schedule for receivers, and could take advantage of weaker competition.
Recommended Target Draft Range: Round 11-12
