DARWIN THOMPSON, RB (R6:P214)

Darwin Thompson was the fifth pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 NFL Draft. Thompson is a 5’ 8” 200 pound wrecking ball from Utah State and is slowing growing himself a name during camp already.

A Utah State Aggie product and Junior College player prior to that, Thompson is a well-rounded back and will be jumping right into action in his first season as a Chief. During his one year at Utah State, he put up impressive numbers like 1,044 rush Yds (153 Att), 14 touchdowns, 351 receiving yards (23 receptions),two touchdowns.

The intriguing part of Thomson’s game is his ability to stay on his feet and fight through contact. He averaged at least six yards per carry in his lone season for Utah State. If the track record serves correct, Eric Bienemy will have this kid running wild like every other running back that crosses his path and gets to learn from him.

A stat line for Thompson this season will look like this:

  • Rushing: 65 Car, 410 Yds, 5 TD
  • Receiving: 43 Rec, 420, 2 TD

Thompson will have a very solid rookie campaign for the Chiefs his numbers could very easily take off this year. Currently sitting on the depth chart with Damien WilliamsDarrel Williams, and Carlos Hyde, touches will be few to come by to start the season, but is an injury or a break through away from getting more snaps per game.
