FANTASY FOOTBALL DEFENSES/SPECIAL TEAMS TO TARGET

Number 6 – Houston Texans

2018 Fantasy Points Ranking: 3rd

2018 Points Allowed Ranking: Tied-4th

As long as J.J. Watt is wearing a Texans uniform, they will be near the top of these rankings. Watt is arguably the second most dominant defender in the league. He led the Texans to the third most D/ST fantasy points last season and tied for the fourth-fewest points allowed last season.

As long as Jadeveon Clowney doesn’t hold out, the Texans should have one of the best pass rushes in the league. A lot of sacks plus low point totals from the opposition equals great D/ST fantasy production.

The Texans did lose a big part of their defense though in Tyrann Mathieu (yay Chiefs!). Although they finished in the top three in fantasy points last season, and are still good enough to stay relevant without Mathieu, it is still likely that they at least see a small dip in their defensive performance and therefore a lower DST fantasy ranking.

Either way, this will be a great option in fantasy football this year and if you’re looking for a good season-long DST this should be a good one to own. Follow trends with this D/ST, in most drafts they should be available in the second to last round, but if you start seeing the Bears, Jaguars, and Rams getting snagged a round or two earlier than expected, you might go ahead and try to grab the Texans defense as this could be the last of the “sure things.”
