Kansas City Chiefs: Recap from first weekend of training camp

The Sammy Watkins and Patrick Mahomes connection looks great
A lot of hype has been going around about how great Sammy Watkins looks and feels this offseason and Chiefs fans were very thrilled to hear that, but it was even better to see the duo in action this weekend.
It is no secret how electrifying the Chiefs offense is, but this offense is just scratching the surface of its potential if the Mahomes-Watkins connection can reach a new level this season. By the looks of this weekend, this dream could become a reality as the Watkins and Mahomes are looking excellent together right now.
Watkins looked pretty good on Saturday and then Sunday started off on a sour note. On one of the first plays of seven-on-seven, Mahomes whipped a no-look pass across the middle of the field to Watkins and it bounced off his chest and fell to the ground as an incompletion. He did follow it up, however, maybe on the very next play, with a catch over the top of Tyrann Mathieu.
This was probably the best catch of the day and after that Watkins was Mahomes’ favorite target on the day. He definitely caught more passes than anybody on day two and this is what could make the Chiefs so dangerous this season.
If Mahomes starts off connected with Hill (as he did on Saturday) and the defense makes adjustments, Mahomes has another excellent receiver in Watkins that he can lean on as he did on Sunday (and we aren’t even mentioning Travis Kelce yet).
