Group 3: Tight Ends

Backup: ???

I am not trying to cop out here, but there isn’t really any backup tight end on the roster yet. The only two serious options are Blake Bell and John Lovett.

Bell is a fifth year tight end who has 30 career receptions for 357 yards and zero touchdowns, which is the equivalent of a three-game Travis Kelce streak. Lovett is a converted quarterback undrafted rookie. Yikes.

Disclosure: I actually like Lovett. He can be what Taysom Hill is to the Saints for this team. The reps and experience for these two just aren’t there, however.

Still, someone has to win the job and take the snaps. I’ll give it to Lovett, who lined up as fullback, running back, quarterback, receiver, and tight end in college. I’ll also throw on a 12 catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns for him as well.

Total positional numbers: 102 catches, 1,296 yards, 10 touchdowns.
