STAY ON THE FIELD

This one is a given and it makes me nervous just thinking about it. Mahomes has to stay on the field for every game this season. The obvious reason is that this team goes as Mahomes goes. While Alex Smith was important from 2013-2017, when he missed time, the offense really didn’t skip a beat.

The gap from Mahomes to either Chad Henne, Chase Litton, or whoever wins the backup quarterback job is a lot bigger now. If Mahomes goes down, the Chiefs chances at making a run at the Super Bowl are likely sunk.

There’s a chance Mahomes could miss a game or two if he can put up the numbers early as he did last season. Keeping him healthy and standing up right is a big factor in this season, not only for his chance to repeat, but for the Chiefs team as a whole.

Now let us move on from this frightening thought!
