October: vs Troy, vs Ole Miss, at Vanderbilt, at Kentucky

Mizzou concludes its non-conference slate the first weekend of October by hosting Troy. While this will be a tougher game than that against SEMO, the Tigers, especially after a bye week, should dominate, moving to 5-0 (1-0) before concluding the season with seven consecutive conference games, four of which are on the road.

The first of those comes October 12, as Mizzou welcomes the Ole Miss Rebels and their nightmarish mascot to Columbia. The Rebels are entering Year 3 under head coach Matt Luke, and the Ole Miss faithful are probably getting anxious for some results after going 6-6 and 5-7. Those faithful will ended 2019 a disappointed bunch.

Yet this feels like a prime spot for a good old fashioned Missouri let down game. Such an occurrence happens just about every season for the Tigers, where the team loses a game it’s supposed to win.

This is a game that Mizzou should win, especially as the team enters this week undefeated and looking for a solid two-for-two start in conference play before three straight road games. Regardless, I’m going with the Rebels in an upset.

Well, as much as a win against Mizzou can be considered an upset.

After that mildly shocking loss, Missouri then ends October with back-to-back road games, the first of which takes place in Nashville. Simply, the Tigers should handled the Vanderbilt Commodores, even though the team hasn’t had as much success against the SEC’s smallest school since entering the conference as one may have hoped.

For the Tigers to continue on with a successful 2019, head coach Barry Odom must rebound the group after losing to Ole Miss. Mizzou can ill-afford a two-game losing streak at this point in the season.
