Before an off-week to conclude September, Missouri has its first conference game of the season, a home competition against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

I will never take a team coached by Will Muschamp all that seriously, but let us recall that for a short spell in 2018, South Carolina was ranked. Muschamp lasted four seasons at Florida; this is his fourth with the Gamecocks.

After going 22-17 his first three years, he needs a breakout season. Don’t expect it, and don’t expect them to win this road game.

This same weekend, the Georgia Bulldogs get their toughest test of the young season, hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after expected wins on the road against Vanderbilt and hosting Murray State and Arkansas State. This feels to me like a trap game for the Bulldogs, not that the Irish are a team to be taken lightly by any means.

Still, I’m picking the Irish to upset the Bulldogs here, and while that doesn’t affect the SEC race, it will certainly affect how Georgia performs in October.

Mizzou Record: 4-0 (1-0)

Georgia Record: 3-1 (1-0)
